How does the JT Eaton 490 Answer Mechanical Mole Trap work?

The JT Eaton 490 Answer Mechanical Mole Trap utilizes a simple yet effective design that captures moles as they travel through their tunnels. Ensuring the trap is level and directly in the active tunnel will enhance its effectiveness. This trap is particularly useful for homeowners looking to protect lawns and gardens from damage caused by moles.

JT Eaton Traps JT Eaton - 490 Editorial Review

The JT Eaton 490 Mechanical Mole Trap has garnered a mixed reception among customers, reflecting a range of experiences and effectiveness in various settings. Users who followed the setup directions precisely often reported rapid success, with some capturing moles within hours of deployment. This swift effectiveness is particularly praised in situations where other types of traps failed, including heavy-duty scissor traps, making the JT Eaton model a preferred choice for those unable to use poison due to pet safety concerns. Several reviews highlight the adjustable trigger tension and rust-resistant materials as appealing features, enhancing its usability in outdoor conditions. Customers appreciate the design, which minimizes interference in the mole's tunnel, allowing for more natural access points. However, the product does not come without criticisms. Some users found the spring mechanism sluggish or inadequate, leading to unsuccessful trapping even in areas with visible mole activity. A few reported issues with the trap's width, suggesting that some moles could navigate around the trap without triggering it. Overall, while the JT Eaton 490 has successfully addressed mole issues for several users, it has not universally captivated all customers, particularly due to concerns about its mechanical effectiveness and build quality in certain instances. **
