Title: Rick Steves Budapest: A Comprehensive Travel Companion Rick Steves’ latest travel guide, focusing on the historic city of Budapest, has garnered a predominantly positive reception among avid travelers. The book provides an in-depth exploration of Budapest’s rich history, starting from Roman times and emphasizing the influences of various conquerors, including the Magyar tribes, Nazis, and Communists. Readers appreciate the book's thoughtful organization, which allows them to navigate Budapest's numerous historical layers effectively. The guide is praised not only for its vibrant photographs and detailed maps but also for its practical advice. Whether it's suggestions on must-visit sites, local dining tips, or unique excursions, Steves' recommendations enhance the travel experience by helping visitors appreciate both iconic attractions and local cultural gems. Many reviewers note the importance of reading the entire guide before visiting to ensure a well-planned trip. Notably, the guide facilitates immersive experiences with suggested walking tours and insights into the local culture that go beyond standard travel advice. Many travelers report that they have enjoyed discovering hidden gems recommended in the book, often finding authentic dining options away from the typical tourist trail. However, it's worth mentioning that a minority of readers expressed concern over perceived political bias in the book. Some believe that Steves' commentary about Hungary's current political climate detracts from the guide's overall utility, deeming it potentially partisan. Overall, Rick Steves’ Budapest guidebook emerges as a valuable resource for enterprising travelers eager to experience the city's complex heritage while taking advantage of practical travel advice and self-guided tours. **
