Musicals Editorial Review

A few customers noted regional coding issues, but the main complaint was that the production was not faithful to the original Japanese setting. Some found it culturally insensitive, while others appreciated the satirical, whimsical nature of the work. Many acknowledged that the Hollywood production from 1939 had dated acting and costumes, and that some changes had been made to the original work. Some loved the historical information added to the film, while others thought it was lethargic and not all that interesting. On the plus side, some thought the image looked as good as it ever would. **
