Ghosts Editorial Review
**** "Deadly Occupants" by Mads Rafferty has garnered positive feedback for its engaging blend of thrilling horror and relatable friendships. Readers appreciate the captivating character dynamics among the four friends—Blair, Evie, Violet, and Phoebe—who embark on a haunted house tour. The friendships are central to the narrative, offering a tight-knit support system that resonates well with the audience. While the initial romantic elements might feel out of place to some, they become more relevant as the storyline unfolds, adding depth to the characters' interactions. The novel's pacing is another standout feature, with many readers noting how difficult it is to put down once started. Moments of genuine suspense are highlighted, keeping readers on the edge of their seats, while the layering of humor throughout the story lightens darker scenes, making it an entertaining read. The creeping sense of unease that permeates the text enhances the eerie atmosphere, which is especially appreciated by those who enjoy paranormal thrillers. Despite a few predictable twists, the overall execution leaves a lasting impression, with readers recommending it as a perfect read for the fall season. Overall, "Deadly Occupants" successfully combines friendship, suspense, and supernatural elements, making it a compelling choice for young adult audiences and fans of the thriller genre. **
